Tuition fees
At the moment all Bachelor und Masterstudents pay tuition fees of 730 CHF/semester. From HS2025 onwards a new regulation differentiates between two student groups.
Single tuition fee: 730 CHF / semester
- students with swiss nationality
- students with nationality from the prinicipality of Liechtenstein
- students who were resident in Switzerland or the Principality of Liechtenstein at the time they obtained their university entrance qualification
- students from another country of the European Free Trade Association or the European Union, insofar they work or run their own business or are family members from persons staying in Switzerland due to the "Agreement on the free movement of persons (AFMP)". And children of these persons, insofar they live in Switzerland.
"Marginal and part-time work does not give an entitlement to employee status.."
This means that the permit of stay from the migration office is deciding for your status. Normally, assistant positions at ETH or part-time jobs in another sector in Switzerland do not entitle you to an employee status defined by the "Agreement on the free movement of persons (AFMP)".

Establishing residence means: at the time of receiving the University admissions certificate the student did not live in Switzerland or Liechtenstein.
Transition regulation
The threefold tuition fee starts with the autumn semester 2025.
Excluded from the incerase are those students who
a. are enrolled at ETH, until the end of their Bachelor programme;
