Manifesta, the European biennial of contemporary art, will be held in Zurich from 11 June to 18 September. The main venues for the event are the Migros Museum of Contemporary Art, the Luma Westbau/POOL etc. exhibition space in the L?wenbr?u art complex, Kunsthalle Zürich, and the Helmhaus.

ETH Zurich is running two Manifesta projects. In one project, thirty of Professor Tom Emerson’s students are creating a ‘Pavillon of Reflections’ on Lake Zurich. This is a floating, multifunctional platform with an enormous LED screen, viewing platform, bathing area and bar. The Pavillon of Reflections serves as a swimming pool and meeting place during the day, and as a place where the artworks presented are reflected in the evening.

In a second project, Professor Alex Lehnerer will convert the Cabaret Voltaire into external page a guildhall for artists. ‘Cabaret der Künstler – Zunfthaus Voltaire’ will thus become Zurich’s 27th and newest guildhall. As in all guildhalls, access is open only to members. Anyone wishing to become a member can join by actively demonstrating their art in ‘joint-venture performance’.
