In addition to simply learning, our goals are to broaden our perspectives of a contemporary issue so we can all broaden our thinking, challenge our opinions and through this, make a meaningful contribution to issues we are working on.

An Industrial Metaverse is evolving as an innovative convergence fueled by the deep digital transformation of the sector as it recognizes and realizes new opportunities which the transformation is revealing. What is it? Where did it come from? What can it do? What will it be able to do? There are clear use cases which demonstrate increased optimization of processes, acceleration of product development, enhanced productivity which are enabling more circularity and making business operations more resource-efficient and sustainable. Artificial intelligence is emerging as a key enabling technology of the Industrial Metaverse. How is it being integrated? What difference is generative AI making? What do we imagine, or hope, it will do? And, finally, what are the barriers which need to be overcome in order to fully leverage the Industrial Metaverse?

Join us for what promises to be a fascinating dialogue.

Peter K?rte

Peter Körte

As Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Technology Officer of Siemens AG, Peter Koerte is responsible for developing the company’s strategy and leading its worldwide research and development activities. His current priorities include the accelerated development of innovative sustainable technologies as well as the implementation and further development of the Siemens Xcelerator business platform, whose comprehensive offering based on cooperation and partnership enables digital transformation for customers.

Until 2020, Peter Koerte headed Digital Health, the unit at Siemens Healthineers that develops AI-supported diagnostic procedures for healthcare. From 2011, he held several managerial positions in diagnostics. Before starting his career at Siemens in corporate strategy in 2007, he worked for the Boston Consulting Group.

Peter Koerte holds a master’s degree in business and engineering from the University of Karlsruhe and a doctorate in strategy and international management from the WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management. He also completed the General Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Torbj?rn Netland

Torbjörn Netland

Prof. Dr. Torbj?rn Netland is Full Professor and Head of Chair of Production and Operations Management at D-MTEC, ETH Zurich, Switzerland. He is a Member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Advanced Manufacturing and Value Chains, a Fellow of the European Academy for Industrial Management, President of the POMS College of Operational Excellence, and a Fellow of the European Academy for Industrial Management. His research on achieving and sustaining manufacturing excellence appears in leading scientific journals such as Management Science, Journal of Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, and MIT Sloan Management Review. Torbj?rn is the recipient of the 2023 Jack Meredith Best Paper Award of the Journal of Operations Management, two Shingo Research Awards, and numerous teaching awards. He is co-author of the 800-page textbook “Introduction to Manufacturing: An Industrial Engineering and Management Perspective” (Routledge, 2022). Torbj?rn is also co-founder of external page EthonAI —a startup offering state-of-the-art AI solutions for analytics in manufacturing.

Chris Luebkeman

Chris Leubkeman is Head of the Strategic Foresight Hub in the Office of the President at ETH Zurich. In all of his collaborations, he intertwines practical optimism, insatiable curiosity, and a profound commitment to the planet. Chris' career to date has spanned various professions and locations. His path led him to Vanderbilt, Cornell and ETH Zurich, among others. Prior to his role as Head of Foresight at ETH Zurich, he worked at the global engineering consultancy Arup in London, where he led the research and development group and later founded the foresight, innovation and incubation teams.
